In order to evaluate the international port’s commissioning preparations, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan traveled to Vizhinjam. The Chief Minister and his family arrived at the port. In advance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s May 2 arrival in Vizhinjam for the port commissioning, the Chief Minister came to evaluate the preparations. The review meeting was also attended by the Chief Minister, who serves as the organizing committee’s principal patron. The Chief Minister toured the port and Pulimuttu following the conference. The Pulimuttu has a 3-km-long, 10-meter-wide path that leads up to the cape.

In preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival for the port commissioning, three helipads are being proposed for the port. It has been suggested that the main helipad be located next to the port office building. A football field close to the entrance gate is also being explored for use in the event of an emergency landing, should there be a technical barrier to this. After getting the SPG’s approval, a decision will be made on this. The Prime Minister is expected to arrive at Raj Bhavan on May 1st, stay here, and go to Vizhinjam on May 2nd.

At the international port, tank farms and liquid berths will be constructed on land in conjunction with the Pulimud. These will be utilized for onshore fuel storage and ship replenishment. Liquid berths of 250 meters are being constructed. In the vast Mullur Thottam area, the fuel injected through these will be gathered in the tank farm storage tanks. A valve system allows ships approaching the berth below to be refueled because the tank farm is situated at a higher point.
