As reported by Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal, development projects in the Kollam district are being implemented in all sectors. He was presiding over a meeting held Tuesday as part of the State government’s fourth anniversary festivities at the collectorate conference hall here.
In order to support the district’s future development ambitions, steps have been taken to enhance the Kollam port’s tourism and economic potential. International tourism will be made possible by the arrival of ships and cargo ships along this route after the Vizhinjam project is completed. The process of creating a court complex and district staff quarters is moving forward, and land has been purchased for the development of the Sreenarayanaguru Open University headquarters building. “Efforts have been made to extend working days in the cashew sector, and an IT park is on the horizon in the city center,” the Minister stated.
Speaking about the other significant projects, Mr. Balagopal mentioned that the Kollam Biodiversity Circuit, a significant tourism project that links well-known and up-and-coming locations in the region, would soon be finished. To stop coastal erosion, a scientific approach will be used. Additionally, he stated that the government had set aside ₹53 crore for a net manufacturing factory in Neendakara.
The Minister also pointed out that the biomining project at the Kureepuzha garbage treatment plant was an excellent model for the Malinya Muktham Navakeralam initiative in the State.
From May 11 to 17, Asramam Maidan will host a fair to highlight all of these accomplishments that are revolutionizing the area. Future growth alternatives should be included in the display so that the public can assess them and exchange views, the Minister stated.
The program’s organizing committee will hold a comprehensive meeting on April 16. At the local body level, parallel exhibitions are also being proposed. The meeting was attended by district-level officials, district collector N. Devidas, additional district magistrate G. Nirmalkumar, district police chief (Kollam City) Kiran Narayanan, and others.
