In the wake of Iran’s missile strike on US military bases in Qatar on Monday night, several flights were canceled or diverted, causing significant disruptions for passengers traveling to and from the Gulf countries via Kerala’s Kannur International Airport.

There was a direct impact on flight services to Gulf locations like Sharjah, Doha, and Fujairah. After taking off from Kannur, an Indigo flight (6E1503) headed for Fujairah was rerouted to Mumbai owing to airspace closure and subsequently canceled. A similar situation occurred when an Air India Express flight that was scheduled to depart for Doha at 7.23 had to return to Kannur shortly after takeoff and was later canceled.

Citing ongoing airspace restrictions, Air India Express canceled its scheduled flights from Kannur to Sharjah (4.20 p.m.) and Doha (7.15 p.m.) on Tuesday, adding to the difficulties.

Some flights have been impacted because to the changing circumstances in the Middle East. In a passenger alert sent on Tuesday, Kannur International Airport Limited (KIAL) recommended travelers to confirm the most recent status of their flights with their individual airlines before to arriving at the airport.
