Export-import (EXIM) cargo and domestic activities at Vizhinjam Port have received customs clearance. The Union Ministry of Finance’s Customs and Central Excise Department granted the initial approval, and the Customs Commissionerate in Kochi is anticipated to grant the final clearance shortly when the remaining processes are finished.
The Adani Vizhinjam Port Company has been granted the license. This allows for the start of EXIM trading into and out of the nation via Vizhinjam Port. Customs broking companies that operate at different ports throughout India are scheduled to open offices in Vizhinjam after receiving approval. These businesses will handle the routing of cargo activities. At the port utilities building next to the harbor, a customs office had already started operations.
However, because road connectivity from the port to the national highway is still incomplete, domestic exports cannot begin right once. In order for container trucks to reach the highway, service roads must also be enlarged. It is anticipated that the road construction would be finished by December. In October, the Adani Group intends to start testing limited domestic goods transit on the current lines. The feasibility of transporting containers over the Mullur Road close to the port at night will be investigated in the first phase.
