A technical issue forced the British fighter jet F35 to make an emergency landing at the Thiruvananthapuram airport, and the issue has not been resolved. The fighter jet has been at the airport for ten days, and Britain will be responsible for paying the rent. For repairs, a group of forty British professionals might show up. Additionally, CISF security for the aircraft is still in place.
The Thiruvananthapuram airport will collect a leasing fee for the fighter plane, which is currently in domestic airspace. Since it is a fighter plane, the Ministry of Defense will have to approve the cost. According to reports, a team of 40 professionals will be arriving shortly to address the unresolved technological issues. Engineers from Lockheed Martin, the American company that makes the F35 stealth fighter, and the British Navy will be on the team.
The fighter plane would be transported to the ship if the team of experts is unable to resolve the issue. For this, a specialized aircraft may be used. The British Navy clarified that it made an emergency landing after running out of fuel upon takeoff from the Prince of Wales, which was anchored 100 nautical miles offshore. A hydraulic system malfunction was also discovered during an examination that was done after refueling. The precise reason for the error has not yet been disclosed.
Air India had proposed to relocate the aircraft to a hangar, which is a structure used for aircraft maintenance. Nonetheless, it is thought that the British are keeping the aircraft in the home bay because they are concerned that the fighter jet’s secrets would be revealed. During a combined military exercise between the Indian and British air forces on the night of the 14th, the fighter jet had to make an emergency landing in Thiruvananthapuram.
